Gauges
Gauges are designed to display real-time information to help monitor business operations. They are similar to KPIs, but differ by focusing mainly on the progress of achieving specific goals and/or the performance of specific activities.
Half-Circle Gauge Example
When to Use
- When tracking the progress of a goal or monitoring certain business activities is important.
When Not to Use
- To illustrate trends
- When technical limitations do not allow for the display of up-to-date data
Variations
- Half-Circle Gauge (shown above)
- Full-Circle Gauge
Variations
Gauges are commonly grouped together to show current status across different measures.
Gauges are intended to immediately communicate status of specific business operations, as such, the Status Palette is most often used with gauges.
Full-Circle Gauge Example
Full-circle gauges are best suited to contexts in which the primary purpose is to display the portion complete/achieved in relation to the larger whole.
